Inspiration is commonly understood as something that makes someone want to do something, or that gives someone an idea for what to do.
Some people see inspiration as a magical force. Others are inspired by events and people in their lives. Others see inspiration as the result of practice and exercising your intellect and creativity.
No matter where it comes from, what is important is what do you do with that inspiration once you’ve got it. Do you have ideas, then doubt your ability and let them die off? Are you inspired and then recoil at the thought of how much work the actual implementation of your idea would take? Do you get an inspired idea, know that you’re capable of the execution of the idea, but simply forget about it? Or, like many of our mobile app development students, do you have an idea and then put it aside because you think that someone else has probably already done it?
If any of these scenarios sounds familiar, you’re in good company. Everyone, it seems, has inspired ideas or is inspired to create something that could be marvelous. Why is it that it’s so difficult to follow through with what we’re inspired to do?
Part of the problem is the lack of skills. Whether your idea is to create a business, build a mobile app, start a band, or do something as solitary as write a book, there can be great hurdles of knowledge to traverse between having an idea and accomplishing that idea. Today, we’re fortunate to live in a time when it’s possible for one person to gain an enormous amount of knowledge on any subject they wish.
If you have the time to acquire the skills, you probably need to form a team. Some people are more adept at starting things, and others are better at organizing and managing things. The whole package is rare, if it even ever exists.
What’s a person to do? We say: enjoy the inspiration. Letting yourself be inspired, having inspiration, and thinking about your ideas can be ends in themselves. Ideas come and go — let them! If one sticks and comes at the right time and place, follow it. The more ideas you have, the more ideas you’ll have.
WatzThis? aims to be a place where you can acquire the skills you don’t have and that you need to implement your ideas.
