One of our VIP readers emailed us with this question:
“Is there something quick and easy that you offer? I would like to dip my toes in and spend 10 or 15 minutes once a week learning something new. Maybe offering your audience some easy on-ramps would be a good thing.”
We totally agree! In today’s newsletter, we’re going to tell you about some of the things we’ve been doing lately that are either free to you or very low cost, and that require minimal time on your part.
WatzThis? Videos
We recently created a YouTube channel and we’ve been making playlists that are relevant to our online courses. They’ve been a great supplement to the material in our courses, but they also touch on specific topics and solutions that are really helpful! And, they’re free for anyone to view! You can view all of our playlists here. We try to add content pretty regularly, so please subscribe to our channel.
Here are a couple choice selections:
1. How to Create a Free Hosting Account and Upload Your Website
This is something that we think everyone should know how to do. And now, we’ve created an 8 minute video that shows you everything you need to know in order to get started as a web site developer. Really…watch this video.
2. Signing Up with Google Webmaster Tools
Want more control over how your website appears in search results? Want to improve your website’s search engine optimization with less than 15 minutes of work? Watch this one!
Webucator Videos
Another thing we’ve been doing is making short tutorial videos for Webucator Training. These are all free, and the topics covered range from WordPress, to JavaScript, to Social Media, and much more. The ones by us are mostly in the JavaScript, WordPress, CSS, and Social Media categories. You can View all of them here!
Online Classes – First Lessons
The first lessons of our two online classes are always free and don’t require registration. If you want to get a quick introduction to Search Engine Optimization or Mobile Web Apps, click here!
Webkit For Dummies
We don’t get anything out of sales of used copies of our books, but we hate to see when older books are overlooked. Webkit For Dummies, by Chris Minnick (Wiley, 2012), is available, used, on Amazon for as low as 1 cent.
This book is good, but it never really caught on because of confusion around the title. This book was the basis for our online course, Creating Mobile Web Apps with HTML5. It teaches you everything you need to know about HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript in order to get started building mobile apps! For 1 cent (plus shipping), it’s a pretty great deal!
We want to thank everyone who reads our newsletter and to those who took the time to offer feedback and encouragement over this last week. We hope you find something inspiring in these offerings and, as always, thank you for reading.
